Unlike Casalino, Arlow did not grow up in the Pacific Northwest or even on the West Coast. While they have decided to set their novel in Seattle, the pair have very different histories with the city. "We moved quite a bit growing up, but we would come back to Seattle fairly often, and ever since graduating college in 2019, I've lived here full-time." ![]() ![]() "I have lived in Seattle since I was about two and a half," Casalino said in an interview with the SGN. If the luckiest people are those who love their work, Seattle couple Daniela Casalino and Jake Maia Arlow have hit the jackpot - they love their work and the person they get to do it with.Ĭasalino and Arlow are using their professional and creative talents in art and writing to develop a new young adult graphic novel together, set in Seattle and loosely based on Casalino's experiences growing up in the region. ![]() ![]() FREDERICK HAMMERSLEY: The Origins of Pictorial Space By Robert C.MPA Directing Light onto Fist of Father By Litia Perta.LINDA CROSS: Excavation Painting By Robert C.MIKE WOMACK Spectres, Phantoms, and Poltergeists By Shane McAdams.BROOKLYN DISPATCHES Pain by Numbers By James Kalm. The Beauty of a Social Problem By Walter Benn Michaels.MARY CALDER ROWER (1939 2011) By Jessica Holmes.ARE YOU WHAT YOU WEAR? In “The Approach to Al-Mu’tasim,” a writer reviews the second edition of a book written by Indian lawyer Mir Bahadur Ali. Borges studies the people and customs of the region, finding the Uqbar people do not use nouns in their language, and therefore, do not adhere to common sense reality. “Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius,” the first story in Part 1, “The Gardens of Forking Paths,” follows Borges and his friend Adolfo Casares as they search for the meaning of the word “Uqbar” in the Encyclopedia Britannica until they learn it is a country in Asia Minor. What is so marvelous about Mrs Piggle-Wiggle? Well, she was way ahead of the curve when it comes to Super Nanny and Nanny 911. I was lucky enough to grow up in a home with a copy from my mother's childhood and have read and reread these hilarious stories over and over to myself and then to my children, each one in turn, with the older ones listening in.
